Connect Your Broker

Securely connect a supported broker to import your trading activity.

What a broker connection does

Connecting a broker allows Trade Optic to securely import supported account and trade information. Depending on what your broker provides, imported information may include instruments, entry and exit prices, position size, profit or loss, fees and timestamps.

Trade Optic is an analytics and journaling platform. It does not place, modify or close trades unless that capability is explicitly developed and authorised in the future.

Connection methods

The available connection method depends on the broker you select.

Method 1: Secure broker sign-in

Used when your broker or platform supports a secure sign-in through an authorised connection provider.

Select "Connect Broker" in Trade Optic.
Choose your broker from the supported list.
Select the correct account environment if requested, such as Live or Demo.
Continue to the broker’s secure connection screen.
Sign in directly through the broker or authorised connection provider.
Choose the trading account to connect.
Review and approve the requested permissions.
Return to Trade Optic and wait for the first synchronisation.

Method 2: API connection

Used for brokers that require an API key or account credentials entered into Trade Optic’s secure connection form.

Sign in to the broker’s official website.
Open the account, developer, API or security settings.
Create a new API key for Trade Optic.
Use read-only permissions whenever the broker supports them.
Do not enable withdrawals, transfers or trade execution permissions.
Copy the API key and any other required information, such as account ID, server name or account environment.
Return to Trade Optic and select your broker.
Enter the requested connection information into the secure form.
Select Live or Demo correctly.
Select "Connect" and wait while the connection is verified.

Trade Optic should never ask you to send your broker password through email, live chat or social media.

Never share an API key publicly or send it through email, direct messages or support chat. Only enter it inside Trade Optic’s secure broker-connection form. If you believe a key has been exposed, revoke it immediately through your broker and create a new one.

Security and permissions

Trade Optic requests only the minimum permissions required for journaling and analytics. The exact permissions depend on the broker and connection method.

Account identification

Lets Trade Optic recognise which trading account is connected.

Account balance access

Allows balance information to be shown where the broker provides it.

Trade-history access

Allows closed trades and historical activity to be imported for journaling.

Open-position access

Allows open positions to be shown where the broker provides them.

Order or trade-execution access

Not requested for journaling. Trade Optic does not place, modify or close trades.

Withdrawal access

Never requested. Trade Optic cannot move funds from your broker account.

First synchronisation

The first import may take longer when an account contains a large trading history. After a successful connection, your Broker Connections page can show:

Broker name
Trading account
Live or Demo environment
Last successful sync
Sync status
Sync Now button
Disconnect button

Connecting

Trade Optic is establishing the connection.

Connected

The broker account is linked successfully.

Synchronising

Trade history is being imported.

Action Required

Additional setup or approval is needed.

Connection Failed

The connection could not be completed.

Disconnected

The connection is no longer active.

Troubleshooting

Manual logging

If your broker is not yet supported, you can still use Trade Optic by logging trades manually or importing a CSV where available.
