Live vs Demo environment

Choose the correct environment when connecting IG or interpreting account data.

IG requires you to select Live or Demo before connecting. Credentials and API keys are not interchangeable between environments.

Demo — practice accounts on IG's demo servers. API keys must be created for demo.
Live — real-money accounts. API keys must be created for live.

MT5 demo and live accounts are distinguished by server name (e.g. BrokerName-Demo vs BrokerName-Live). Enter the exact server from your MT5 terminal.
